Lynn, Shammy, Hussein and Philip fear for their lives in their home country of Uganda – because they are queer. Clerics are calling for them to be killed in the name of God or Allah, and they are not always safe, not even from their own families. Their last hope is to leave everything behind and embark upon a long and painful exile: three of them manage to escape to Switzerland. But new hurdles and exclusion await them. How does Shammy, a transgender woman who stayed in Uganda, survive? And how do the refugees’ families cope with the situation back home?
